Florophilia Privacy

What Florophilia keeps, and why.

Effective July 20, 2026 ยท Updated September 10, 2026

Florophilia has no ads and no third-party trackers. This notice describes the personal information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account information. An email address and a password. A name and a ZIP code are optional. The ZIP code sets your home region.

Content you create. Saved plants, palettes, drawings, comments, your profile, and your learning progress.

Preferences. Settings and answers you give inside the app to shape it for you.

Membership status. Whether a membership is active. Payment is handled by Apple or Google, and we do not receive your payment details.

Diagnostic information. If the app encounters a problem, a report about the error may be sent to us so we can fix it.

How we use it

To operate the app: sign you in, keep your content in sync across your devices, show plants and weather for your region, remember your progress, and provide membership features. We also use it to respond to your messages and to keep the app secure.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.

Who receives it

Service providers that help us run the app: cloud hosting and database services, email delivery for account messages, and the app store that bills your membership. Some features send a request to a third-party service on your behalf: plant photographs are loaded from public image collections, weather is retrieved for your ZIP code, and a photo you choose to submit for identification is sent to an identification service. Each provider receives only what is needed to perform its service and is bound by contract or by its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights.

Sharing by you

Your content is private by default. If you make a palette or drawing public, or post a comment, it is shown to other users with your display name. Your email address is never shown.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes them. Diagnostic and security records are kept for a limited time and then deleted.

Your rights and choices

You can edit your details, make public content private again, and delete your account from Settings in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your personal information, for a correction, or for deletion by writing to info@florophilia.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (for whatever reason, since this app is currently focused on North American flora), we process your data to provide the service you requested and, for optional features, on the basis of your consent, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Where it is processed

Florophilia is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including storing passwords in hashed form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

Florophilia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this notice. When we do, the date at the top changes.
